What saith the Scriptures on the certainity of death and judgement

Genesis 3v19b: till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Ecclesiastes 3v1-2a: To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die.
Hebrews 9v27: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement.

The above Scriptures are clear that each one of us will die at some time. We were created from dust and to dust our bodies shall return. There is a time for each one of us to die. It has been appointed by God that we will die but after this our souls will be judged.

Luke 12v16-20: And He [Jesus] spake a parable unto them saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he thought within himself saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink and be merry. But God said unto him, "Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

This is a parable that Jesus taught. The rich man had obviously been successful and had many goods. He thought he had many years to live, to enjoy the goods he had. How foolish he was, for that night God required his soul and he died. The man could not take his earthly goods with him, they would mean nothing in the coming judgement.

Revelation 20v12-15: And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Here the apostle John is given a vision of the coming judgement, whether small or great all the dead will stand before God.
