What saith the Scriptures on the second death.Revelation 2v10-12: Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. Those at the church in Smyrna were suffering great persecution. Many suffered horrible forms of death. How fitting it is then that Christ promises to those that overcome that they will not be hurt of the second death. This second death as we will read, will be far worse than the first death. Rev 20v14-15: And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. The Scriptures are here very clear. Whosoever is not found written in Christ (the lamb)'s book of life will in a coming day be cast into the lake of fire. This being the second death.
Revelation 21v7-8: He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
What a contrast we have here as we look at what is in prospect for the overcomer, and those that choose not to overcome. Those that overcome inherit all things.
